How does Correio Sabiá collect data?

About WhatsApp

Data collection by Correio Sabiá may occur based on the voluntary subscription of readers to this independent journalistic organization’s WhatsApp groups.

By joining Correio Sabiá’s informational WhatsApp groups (and those of its projects and products), the reader is aware that their name, profile picture, phone number, and other information contained there become known to this journalistic organization and to anyone else subscribed to the group.

To ensure greater control and security of the Community on WhatsApp, avoiding spam, Correio Sabiá requires users interested in joining the WhatsApp groups to register via email on this website.

Correio Sabiá does not always use this information but reserves the right to use it if it considers it important for developing or improving its service for readers.

Furthermore, Correio Sabiá notes that if there are contacts, interactions, or other occurrences resulting from the exposure of readers’ phone numbers in WhatsApp groups, responsibility lies with the users/readers of the groups themselves.

Naturally, Correio Sabiá will make its best efforts to prevent any disturbance to participants, but WhatsApp itself keeps phone numbers visible within groups, and there is no measure within this organization’s control to hide them.

More clearly, Correio Sabiá is not responsible for improper interactions among group users or for leaks of phone numbers that may eventually occur from such exposure.

Correio Sabiá’s groups are merely informational. Messages are generally sent daily. There is no interaction.

Groups linked to Correio Sabiá projects, such as Pulpo Eleitoral, allow interaction among participants. In these cases, the Community Rules apply.

Correio Sabiá also does not disclose or sell data to other companies. In truth, Correio Sabiá makes very limited use of its readers’ data but protects itself through this document against potential liability for any misfortunes that may occur, beyond the will of this organization.

Example: if a participant in one of Correio Sabiá’s groups has their WhatsApp cloned/stolen and a scammer contacts other group members, Correio Sabiá is not responsible for that interaction or any consequences arising from it.

By joining the group of their own free will, the subscribed participant understands and acknowledges these terms and accepts that eventualities such as this may occur, as well as the exposure of their number to other participants. This is related to WhatsApp, not to us.

Correio Sabiá further notes that these Privacy terms are included in the description of the WhatsApp groups managed by this news organization, in order to publicize the principles that guide our work.

About email

The only way we have your email address is if you, at some point, subscribed on our website or filled out forms (Google Forms) that we may send via WhatsApp groups to better understand our audience.

In all these cases, since completion is voluntary, the user consents to providing information to Correio Sabiá.

If you subscribe to our newsletters on this website, your email address will be known exclusively to Correio Sabiá.

Correio Sabiá has different products and services. We started on WhatsApp but have expanded.

All our products are within the domain correiosabia.com.br. That is, Ocean and Pulpo Eleitoral are within this address, at pulpo.correiosabia.com.br. If a company outside this logic contacts you, know that it is a fraud.

• We use GitHub as a code repository for our products.
• We use MailGun to publish our newsletters from the website.
• We use Ghost as the website CMS.
• We use Stripe as a payment method, integrated into this website.
• We use Contabo to host our websites, both Correio Sabiá and its subdomain products.

Note that many of these services collect user data, and this has nothing to do with our will. These are requirements of the services themselves so that they can operate.

‘I want to stop sharing data with Correio Sabiá’: what should I do?

No one is required to share information with Correio Sabiá. If we have any of your data, it is because at some point you agreed to provide it. However, at any time you may change your mind and stop providing it.
