Correio Sabiá is an independent, professional, impartial, and non-partisan journalistic organization created in October 2018.
Our mission is for society to be able to make better decisions, through our fight against disinformation, the provision of reliable journalistic information, and the promotion of public debate.
Our mission, vision, and values are described in this document.
Journalistic coverage
The journalistic coverage of Correio Sabiá focuses on topics of great relevance at the national level, such as Politics, Economy, Justice, and Environment. As a rule, matters related to power. Occasionally, we also cover Media and Technology.
In general, our news is focused on the national audience. We seek to cover the Palácio do Planalto, National Congress, STF (Federal Supreme Court), that is, the 3 spheres of Federal Power – Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary.
However, nothing prevents us from occasionally covering matters at regional, state, or even municipal levels. As long as they are within the topics that make up our coverage.
The journalistic coverage of Correio Sabiá obstinately seeks impartiality, plurality, objectivity, and rigor with the accuracy of information.
Correio Sabiá provides space for the dissemination of ideas of journalistic interest. Thus, it publishes opinion articles. But the opinion of the columnists does NOT necessarily reflect the opinion of Correio Sabiá. Important: in these cases, Correio Sabiá is only a space for publishing ideas and promoting public debate.
Correio Sabiá always:
- seeks to cover all sides of the stories and gives space for manifestations from those who want to make their version of the facts public;
- publishes full texts of official documents, as it is a way to bring more transparency to the news. Thus, the reader can delve deeper into topics of interest or even check if the information in our reports is correct;
- gives credit to other journalistic organizations when reproducing an exclusive report, for example. We believe this is a way to value and strengthen the journalistic ecosystem.
- inserts links from other journalistic organizations when mentioning them to give credit. It doesn't matter if external links reduce the site's ranking in SEO strategies. We believe this is the right way to honor others' work.
- inserts links to PLs (bills) and other normative acts, in the same way we publish full texts of official documents. We believe it is a way to strengthen the credibility of our news and provide tools for readers to better inform themselves.
Correio Sabiá does not publish entertainment, sports, gossip, or similar content. Example: in the case of a wedding, like that of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), it is a matter of Correio Sabiá's journalistic coverage, as he was a then pre-candidate for President of the Republic, with the wedding being a decisive voting factor for a considerable portion of the population.
Types of content
- Curations/newsletters: since the October 2018 presidential election, we have been sending a news curation (newsletter) via WhatsApp as a way to combat disinformation. Recently, in April 2022, we started sending sporadic messages via email (generally, exclusive content, such as interviews or other updates about Correio Sabiá);
- Podcast: since February 2022, we have been doing a news curation with morning publications on Spotify and Google Podcasts, whose goal is to report all the main news highlights in up to 10 minutes, in a complete yet didactic way.
- Context reports: we believe that an efficient way to combat disinformation is aligned with the concept of slow Journalism, which aims to be less factual and show in a broad and complete way the history of a certain event and its developments. All in one single report, with depth, to leave the reader informed about everything they need to know on a given topic.
- Exclusive reports: we are making increasing efforts to have our own and exclusive content, especially investigative reports.
- Interviews: we give space for people from different spheres of power, with diverse ideological views, to express themselves.
- "Hard news": although less frequent, we also publish some "hot" news. Generally, they are matters of great relevance at a given moment, such as the replacement of a minister, for example.
Corrections/feedback policy
Correio Sabiá can make mistakes. If this happens, as soon as it is identified, there will be a retraction in equal proportion to that given to the incorrect/inaccurate content.
Correio Sabiá provides a series of contact channels. All pages on the site have the email redacao@correiosabia.com.br, through which readers can contact us to make criticisms, suggestions, or praise, if applicable.
We have a tab on our site called FEEDBACKS, specifically intended to receive comments from readers.
Our social media is accessible and visible on all pages of our site. Constantly (at least once a week), we ask for feedback via Instagram (@correiosabia).
Frequently (at least once a month), we send forms via WhatsApp groups requesting feedback (criticisms or improvement suggestions), as a way to increase reader participation in our journalistic production.
These initiatives show that we encourage a culture of feedback to strengthen our relationship with readers and thus make Correio Sabiá increasingly useful to society.

Correio Sabiá has a remote newsroom of collaborators distributed across different regions of the country, which tends to contribute to greater diversity of views on the various topics of our journalistic coverage.
Correio Sabiá also values diversity in its team (gender, race, sexual orientation) and does not tolerate any type of discrimination or harassment. For this reason, we created a specific document for this purpose.
Correio Sabiá collaborators must obstinately pursue journalistic objectivity and impartiality when performing their functions. Outside of Correio Sabiá activities, they can express themselves as they wish – and Correio Sabiá does not take responsibility for these expressions.
Furthermore, even without control or accountability for these external expressions, Correio Sabiá advises its collaborators to always maintain impartial and non-partisan positions. This is because we believe impartiality should be present in all spheres of our lives, personal or professional, to improve everyone's credibility.
Evidently, this same guidance does not apply to opinion columnists, who collaborate with Correio Sabiá precisely to express their opinions. They do not necessarily reflect the positioning/thoughts of this independent newspaper. But they serve as a dissemination of ideas of public interest and a stimulus to debate.
All collaborators and other service providers, such as freelancers, report to the news director of this independent newspaper, who is its founder, journalist Maurício Ferro. More information about the creator of Correio Sabiá is available on the site.
Byline policy
Correio Sabiá seeks to value its collaborators. All of them have a registered photo on the site that accompanies the bylined reports. It is a way to give recognition and importance to each one.
Bylines with the collaborator's name occur when there is new information brought to the public or extensive compilation work on the material, in the case of context content, for example.
If these requirements are not met in the published material, the byline should be Correio Sabiá Newsroom. These would be cases of content replicated from other newspapers, for example, always giving credit to the outlet.
Interns' byline content, but receive a footnote asterisk () indicating who supervised the text's publication.
Collaborators writing from another country also have an asterisk () on their texts, indicating the location from which they wrote.
Columnists have, at the footer of their publications, a banner informing their academic background and professional experience. There is also a photo and an asterisk (*), making it clear that Correio Sabiá does not take responsibility for the opinions shared there nor necessarily endorses what was written.
Financing
Correio Sabiá has a monthly financing source, voluntarily based on its readers, through a membership campaign. These readers receive some benefits stipulated on the campaign page.
Currently, this revenue source covers Correio Sabiá's recurring costs, such as domain and site server, occasional hires of freelancers to edit audio and videos, work on site development, or produce visual arts for social media.
Correio Sabiá offers segmented news curation services, according to each company's needs. To request a quote, just contact redacao@correiosabia.com.br.
Correio Sabiá also does “qualified ads,” such as promoting courses, events, or brands that have synergy with the independent newspaper. In this case, individuals or entities can contact via email redacao@correiosabia.com.br.
Example of “qualified ad”: if a professor or a tax area company decides to hold an event/course, Correio Sabiá can partner in promotion and receive a percentage of enrolled student conversions. In this case, it is understood that Correio Sabiá's audience might potentially be interested in the course, so the promotion would have synergy with this independent newspaper. It is a way to generate revenue without losing journalistic independence.
Another example of “qualified ad”: if a bookstore chain contacts Correio Sabiá and offers a percentage of sales for each conversion made by this independent newspaper, likewise, it ensures a revenue stream without losing journalistic independence.
For criticisms, praise, doubts, suggestions, or any type of contact, use the same email: redacao@correiosabia.com.br.
